Here's a suggestion. Do a google search for the National NC121 manual. It's out there. Take a look at the triode BFO/product detector stage. It's just a regenerative detector that always in oscillation. I had one of these receivers and that one tube BFO/product detector worked very well. It's simple, and you get two circuits for the price of one.
